OFFICIAL DETROIT POLICE CHAIN GANG HANDCUFFS

You don't see something like this come up for auction every day. Not even a fake set:

NO RESERVE---$0.99 STARTING BID

THIS IS THE REAL DEAL. You are bidding on a 5 position 10 ft long chain gang style prisoner restraint that was actually used by The Detroit Police Department. 2 pairs of handcuffs are Smith and Wesson, the other 3 pairs are Peerless. They are connected by a solid steel chain. One standard handcuff key is included in this package. Each pair of handcuffs is engraved with "DETROIT POLICE". These are no longer in use but we currently use something very similar. **All handcuff keys this style are universal and are accessible by the general public. However, if you are arrested, it is illegal to free yourself from your restraints. That being said, you are responsible for your own actions and will face prosecution if the key is used to free a prisoner of the law without approval from authorities.*

HOW DID I GET THESE?

HOW DO I KNOW THEY ARE AUTHENTIC?

14 YEARS AGO I BEGAN MY CAREER WITH THE DETROIT POLICE DEPARTMENT. I WAS SENT TO MY POST AND ASSIGNED A LOCKER. AT THE BOTTOM OF MY LOCKER WAS THIS RUSTY LOOKING CHAIN WITH HANDCUFFS ATTACHED TO IT. FOR ONE REASON OR ANOTHER I NEVER BOTHERED TO REMOVE THEM. THEY STAYED IN MY LOCKER FOR 14 YEARS. A WEEK AGO I REMOVED THEM, CLEANED THEM, OILED THEM AND RESTORED THEM TO PERFECT WORKING CONDITION. SINCE THEY ARE ENGRAVED AND AT LEAST 25 YEARS OLD, THEY HOLD HISTORIC VALUE. - eBay (19 April 09)

This handcuff chain set sold for $114.62 (Plus Free Shipping).
