Interesting curiosity of a lock with unusual shackle opening as shown. When the key has a quarter turn, the shackle may be swivelled by hand to any open position. It will snap shut when pressed back into the lock. Works smoothly/well.
Probably c.1930s and may have been used for pre-payment meter lock, ie. is ".... E. S. Co" ".... Electricity Supply Co"? Key cannot be removed until locked; so if the key is removed it is locked! Other locks of this type I've seen are normally made in steel, not brass. Size: 2.9" (7.5cm) long x 2" (5.2cm) max. width.

A collector in USA who has looked at this listing has kindly advised me: "I've got an L&F (Lowe & Fletcher) prepayment meter paper seal padlock marked "CLESCO" and I've found that it stands for the Commonwealth of London Electric Service Company". - eBay (26 July 2009)
