"THE MALTBY" handcuffs

Here is an interesting early version of adjustable handcuffs.

This auction is for a fully functional pair of handcuffs, made by the Mattatuck Manufacturing Company in Waterbury, Conn. They have a stamped patent date of Nov. 12, 1901 on them. Also stamped on each cuff is the inscription "World's Fair1904 St. Louis U.S.A." Included is a working key and a brown leather pouch stamped "The Maltby" Detective. The pouch has some wear marks but the snap is functional. - eBay

These handcuffs appear to be in great condition.

This set sold for an amazing price of $685 (Plus $9 shipping) Apparently the 'World's Fair' marking made this pair especially rare.
