1866 Brass Padlock Townsend & Max Brothers

Here is a most interesting early padlock.

Unique 1866 Brass Padlock Townsend & Max Brothers? Patent 1858, 61, & 66 No Key

The last Patent date on this lock is Sept 15, 1866. It also has Nov 2, 58, and Dec 10, 61. The left side says, Townsend Mfg Company and the right side looks like, Max Brothers Patent Dec 10, '61. The only word I am not sure of is "Max". It looks like a M and a X but I'm not sure if it is a A in the middle even under 10X magnifier. It is a unique old lock made of brass with a early looking steel chain. No reserve auction, will combine shipping if you win more than one that will fit in a small flat rate box.
