This set of leg irons had a high bid of $1,000 (Plus $12 Shipping).You are bidding on a set of very old Leg Irons or shackles made by Romer and Co. from Newark, NJ. The leg irons have 2 stamps on each. The first stamp shows Romer and Co. from Newark, NJ as the manufacturer and a patent date of April 27,1880. The second stamp shows Manufactured for J.J. Walton NY. From our research the leg irons date back to the late 1800's and are very RARE.
Weight - 1 lb. 13 oz.
Sizes - 4 1/2 " in width x 28 1/4" in length with 18 links
Metal - Steel with a very nice patinaThere is no key for these leg irons as it was lost. If you want I am sure someone has one or a key could be made. I do not see any rust and locking system is very tight.
