Tractor Trailer Padlock

Here is an interesting lock that I suspect fits over the trailer's fifth wheel.

THIS MASSIVE STEEL PADLOCK MEASURES 8 1/2 " HIGH x 6 " WIDE x 1 3/4 " THICK AND WEIGHS JUST SHY OF FIFTEEN POUNDS.

THIS LOCK WAS USED TO COUPLE AN OVER THE ROAD TRACTOR-TRAILER BACK IN THE 1930'S.

IN VIEW OF THE INVERTED WRITING, IT APPEARS THAT THIS LOCK WAS ATTACHED "UP SIDE DOWN".

THE KEY THAT CAME WITH THIS LOCK IS INCLUDED, THOUGH ANY 1/4" HEX KEY WILL OPERATE THE LOCK. - eBay (19 July 2009)

This 'padlock' had a high bid of $301 (Plus $12.50 Shipping).

This lock is for preventing a Semi-trailer from being stolen.

It locks over the King-Pin on the underside of the trailer, which is what the trailer is towed by.
It can only be used when the trailer is not hooked up to a truck.
It is just like a hitch lock for a boat trailer, just much larger!

The hitch design is just like that on a 5th wheel travel trailer, just a little bigger.
