Antique Clock Face 2 Hands Combination Padlock, c.1900

This is another clock face padlock that I have not seen before.

An interesting clock face combination padlock made of brass, steel shackle, with known opening combination.

Very good condition.

Though not marked or signed, considering the style of the ‘dial’ and of the brass hands,- very close to the USA patented Ideal comb.padlock -, we do think this is a USA made item, manufactured c.1900-1930.

Size: d.5,6cm, height 9cm, thickness 2,5cm - eBay (8 Dec 2013)

This padlock had a high bid of $561 (Plus $20 Shipping).

1904 St Louis Worlds Fair Souvenir Brass Cast Iron Padlock

Here is another example of the World's Fair padlock. Given the number of examples, it seems that there is no standard price for these locks as rougher examples have gone for more than some of the more pristine samples. I guess it is the luck of the draw and who else is competing for the same specific lock. I still have yet to figure it out, losing out as an active bidder on a number of these. No matter, time is on my side for this lock, I think.

Original, large brass and iron lock manufactured by the Eagle Lock Company of Terryville, Connecticut. It is in very fine condition - showing some minor wear from use but the embossed medallions are in fine condition. The Padlock comes with 2 keys that work!

Brass medallion on one side with text that reads "World's Fair, 1904, St Louis U.S.A." and another brass medallion on the opposite side with a depiction of the Official Seal of the Fair.

The body of the Padlock is made of iron while the hasp and the applied medallions are made of brass. Measures approx. 2 1/2” at its widest and 3 1/2" tall. Weighs over 1/2 pound. - eBay (2 Dec 2013)
This padlock had a high bid of $311.67 (Plus Free Shipping).

Taylor Combination Padlock

Here is an interesting combination padlock. Too bad it does not have a known combination.

This is an Antique Taylor Mfg. Co. Dial Combination Brass Padlock. I have shown this padlock from every angle to give you a good idea of the condition. This lock has obviously been taken apart. I believe that it is complete and functional, though. I do not have the combination. I can feel all three wheels with a pin tool thru the drain hole in the bottom of the case. This lock can be restored, though it is beyond my ability. I do not have the combination. I guarantee that this lock is functional and will operate as it should once you establish the combination. This lock is shown on page 65, item 3 in Arnall's Padlock Collector. Look it up. For more item details, see the Item Specifics Columns and Photos above. - eBay (16 Nov 2013)

This padlock had a high bid of $285 (Plus $5.80 Shipping).

Rankin Leg Irons

Here is a recent auction for a pair of Rankin Leg Irons. Seems that prices are drifting down...

Leg irons from the US Civil War era, manufactured by Andrew Rankin of Philadelphia about 1861: the correct historical stampings are present on both shackles, but are only partially and very faintly visible, as shown in the photos. Condition and dimensions shown in photos. Both locks are in full and correct working order, with no evidence of the damage sometimes seen from old escape attempts. The key is a modern Hiatt key which has been re-machined to fit. Instructions can be provided on proper lock operation, which is essential to know. On Sep-23-13 at 07:39:41 PDT, seller added the following information: On further testing, I find the internal spring on one lock is weaker than it should be, but the lock still appears to function. Also the key has to be used carefully as it is not a perfect fit. - eBay (29 Sept 2013)
This set of Leg Irons had a high bid of $305 (Plus $12.35 Shipping).
