Here is a neat leg shackle. Looks like it was for securing a person to a fixed object. Then again, this can be something that has nothing to do with being a leg shackle. But as you can see, there is a notch so that the chain would not chafe against the leg, so it was made to lock around something.

The item is 33" long and the chain is 26" long, the ring is 3 1/8" round, the shackle has a 2 3/4" opening, and the chain is 5 /16" thick. This appears to have a chain that would go through the iron ring and the leg iron on the ankle as seen in the old chain gangs. It weighs 3 3/4 lbs.
