SILVER COIN PADLOCK CHARM & KEY 1916 GEORGE VII FARTHING WWI

This is another interesting variation of the coin padlock. Seems to be a nice steady stream of these kinds of padlocks coming around.

This is for a nice little hand made padlock and key. The lock is made from two silver coins and comes complete with a key that operates it. The front shows George VII and the reverse is a farthing dated 1916. It is in excellent condition, fully working and it measures 20mm (0.75") in diameter. - eBay (17 Nov 2013)

This padlock had a high bid of 38.67 British Pounds/$62.22 (Plus 3.90 Pounds Shipping).

UK Padlock made of 2 silver coins

I love miniature padlock and these are my favorite miniature padlock. I think that these were probably some project that apprentice locksmiths made as part of their training. However I am only guessing at that. Still, very cool.

This padlock seems to be slightly different from the others that I have seen and profiled in this blog which were made from three pence coins. This one is made from a four pence coin. Is this why the seller was asking for hundreds more Dollars than the others??? I do not see that as a reason to pay more and perhaps that is why this padlock did not sell.

Made of 2 Tiny English Victorian 4 pence "Groat" silver coins with steel inner parts. Beautiful top quality work went into making this sweetheart. This little gem of a lock is Victorian or Early Edwardian handwork. It is the smallest precision working lock I ever saw and if it was locked you would have to pick it or tear it up to open it. - eBay (22 Feb 2013)
This padlock had a 'Buy-it-now' price of $627.77 (Plus $7.75 Shipping) but failed to attract any takers.

MINIATURE ONE CENT 1926 COIN TRICK PADLOCK

I am a real fan of coin padlock. This is not exactly a padlock as it does not require a key or combination, but it is styled as a padlock, and is an antique, so that is enough for me.

GEORGE V Padlock Lock & WW1 Brass D Ring

I am a real fan of coin padlocks. This is a rarer version of the types of coin padlocks that I have run across.

This item is relisted on Ebay because of a new Ebay account holder had maliciously run the bid up and failed to pay. (Note: $315!)

Up for auction is rare George V coin padlock with working key and British Army kit Bag D-Clip. Both have been together from the WW1 era. The D-Clip was used for closing / locking the canvas kit-bag. They were used by the Army , Navy , and Air force.

The George V coin padlock is 1 3/16” wide and 1 7/8” high. This coin was struck between 1911 and 1928 and features the bigger portrait of George V while later coins struck between 1929 and 1932 had a smaller portrait. Unsurprisingly this has lead to the earlier coins to be referred to as the big heads and the later ones as the small heads.

There is a very small piece broken off on the edge of the back plate. This does not affect the function of the lock or degrade the presentation of the piece from the front side. Please review pictures and feel free to ask me any questions. - eBay (8 March 2012)
This padlock had a high bid of $97 (Plus $5.95 Shipping).

THREE PENCE PADLOCK

Here is another example of a coin padlock. The seller had been trying to sell this one for a while and finally found a buyer after lowering their price to $100. Still this is one of the more expensive auctions for this type of coin padlock. Still it is worth it, especially if you don't have one for your collection.

Patent Jan. 1,1895,Josiah Deal,Permutation Padlock,Combination Lock,Canton,Ohio

Here is an interesting combination padlock.

This is a great early padlock that is very hard to find. It is a Josiah J. Deal, of Canton, Ohio Permutation Padlock that was patented on New Years Day, 1895. The lock works beautifully, and I took photos of it completely disassembled for you lock collectors that have never seen one apart. This combination can be set to many different combinations by switching the discs around, or turning them over. This lock is a little more complex than just a basic stack in that it has recessed cuts in the discs on both sides to make it harder to pick. Photo # 7 shows one side of the disc, and the other side of it is exactly the same. This lock is marked "PAT. APL'D. FOR" on the top plate. It was nickel plated at one time, but most the nickel is worn off. The lock is 2-1/2" High, and 1-3/16" in diameter. I will send copies of the patent (#531,676) papers to the winner of the lock.

Thanks for looking, and GOOD LUCK!. - eBay (23 Nov 2011)
This padlock had a high bid of $399 (Plus $5.50 Shipping).

TINY Horseshoe Dog Collar Padlock

This is neat that he had a collection of different sizes.

Here is a neat miniature antique dog collar padlock. It measures a mere 3/4 inch long, 9/16 across, and 1/8 inch thick. It is a working padlock, though takes no key. The trick to opening is slide the key post sideways and pull the shackle. It is a very rare and hard to find miniature padlock likely dating to the late 19th century. The last two photos showing three locks are to show you the others currently listed in seperate auctions. This auction is only for the tiny 3/4 inch horseshoe trick lock. I will consider fair and reasonable offers. - eBay (26 March 2011)

This padlock had a starting bid of $195 (Plus $4.95 Shipping) but received no bids.

Miniature Copper Penny Trick Padlock

I would not exactly classify this as a lock. It is nice though.

Here is a very hard to find antique miniature Copper Wheat penny trick padlock. Condition is excellent. It was made from two copper pennys, one is dated 1937. The entire lock measures only 1 inch long, 5/16 inch thick, and 3/4 inch across. Not much of a trick though still a very unusual padlock perfect for display. You push the spring loaded button and the shackle pops up and turns 45 degrees.

This is a very hard to find lock. - eBay (5 Sept 2010)

This padlock had an opening bid of $150 (Plus $7.70 Shipping) but had no bidders.

ROOT LOCK Bicycle Combination Lock

Here is an interesting bicycle lock.

Fresh from my personal collection.

Here is one of the finest antique miniature combination locks ever made. I estimate the chain to be 11 - 12 inches in length, while the lock body is only 1/2 inch thick and 3/4 inches in diameter. It takes a four number combination, however I do not have the combo for this. - eBay (11 June 2010)

This padlock had a high bid of $292 (Plus $4.95 Shipping).
