Antique Star Padlock with Key

Here is a real neat Star padlock. This is the first one I have seen with a large shackle.

This Is a genuine working cast iron antique made in America by Star Lock Works, a company that went out of business in 1927. It has the large star cast around the key hole and the padlock is 4 inches tall overall. The iron case is 2 1/2 inches wide by 2 inches tall and the iron shackle adds another 2 inches in height. The hoop in the shackle is about 2 7/16" diameter which is about as wide as the case is. The Key is about 2 1/2 " long. This padlock still works with the shackle coming all the way out as well as the lock bottom showing a tight fit. Nice finish with no rust and a rich dark patina. This lock is from an era when people didn't lock their doors at night & padlocks weren't common at all. Here is someones chance to own a very rare, old, functioning padlock . Auction winner will be pleased with this item! If you have any questions, please ask prior to bidding. Also , any information on this lock is appreciated , like year etc... so feel free to send a message . Thanks for looking and Good Luck! Bid to Win !! - eBay (5 Feb 2011)

This padlock had a high bid of $198 (Plus $9 Shipping).

Giant Antique Padlock - 1800s - Iron - Biggest Star

Here is a very impressive padlock:

This Iron Giant is a genuine antique museum Piece.Complete with the original key,it is the largest Iron Star made by Star lock works. And Star went out of business in 1927.The monster shackle is 5/8 inches thick.Far too big to be useful in most all normal applications. And made more than a century ago,it could even reach back as far as the civil war era. This was in a day where people didn't lock their front doors at night. At 4 3/4 inches tall and over 3 inches wide,There were a limited number of uses for it.Possibly a prison lock it would have to be used indoors or it would turn into a giant hunk of rust if used out in the weather. This piece still works well with it's genuine original key.I bought this at a lock show 20 years ago and it is one of the oldest and finest pieces in my collection. You could call this Old High Security and you would be accurate as this padlock is 2 1/4 inches thick with a large embossed star circling the keyhole. - eBay (5 March 2010)

This padlock had a high bid of $195 (Plus $11.50 Shipping).

Giant Star Cast Iron Scandinavian Padlock

A very nice and really large Scandinavian padlock.

This is an old cast iron padlock made by a company in America that went out of business back in the twentys. This is a genuine working Star with both it's original keys still with it.The lock is a monster by todays standards and is 3 5/8 in. tall and over 2 1/2 in. wide. These old scandinavian style locks are rare in the larger sizes and almost never have an original key,let alone having both genuine original keys like this one has. This old beauty is so heavy,it will come in a flat rate priority box.How often do you get a chance to own a 100 year old giant padlock that is not only complete, but still works? - eBay (2 July 2009)

This padlock had a high bid of $180.45 (Plus $11 Shipping).

4 3/8 Scandinavian Jailhouse Padlock w/ Key Star Bottom

A Scandinavian padlock and an expensive one at that.

I have another old large brass padlock listed at this time also. This is a large size Scandinavain Jailhouse or Barrel padlock with what appear to be the original key as it works the lock perfectly. It is 4 3/8 in height and 3 inches across. There is a brown finish to the body of the lock, I dont know if this is factory or not but must have been that way for a long time as it looks great, with very light wear to the finish. The shackle is marked Patd JUL 78 & AUG 86. There are no markings on the key. A nice big iron padlock to add to this type of collection. Thanks! - eBay

This padlock sold for $202.50 (Plus $10.60 Shipping).
