This padlock had a high bid of $239.35 (Plus $7.05 Shipping).Thank you for viewing our auction. This is a rare and valuable OVB brass padlock with original key, made by Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Co. This lock works, and is in very good condition, as shown by the photographs.
Closed it measures about 3" long by 2" wide and 11/16" thick. The key and the lock have the same serial number (letters) on them. The key is marked OVB H.S.B & Co., Pat'n July 26 '98.
The padlock is marked Patented July 20th, 1909. OVB Our Very Best, H.S.B. & Co. Chicago.
This collectible padlock is hard to find, and is in unusually good condition. - eBay (9 July 2009)
