WINCHESTER LOT OF 21 PADLOCK LOCK COMPLETE SET-WITH KEYS

Here is something that does not come up for sale every day, if ever. There is a subset of padlock collectors that only collect Winchester padlocks. That partly explains the high bidding on this auction.

Up for auction is a complete set of original/authentic Winchester padlocks, These locks are all in excellent condition with some being NOS and all have working keys with most having original keys. This set is the cream of the crop and I will let the pictures do the talking. You will not find a nicer set of Winchester locks than this one. - eBay (19 Jan 2012)

Fake Winchester Padlock

With many of the popular valuable antique locks, one has to be concerned about the fakes that are floating around. This auction does the right think and states that the lock is a copy and not an original. Although he probably should have noting the same in the auction's title:

WINCHESTER STAINLESS STEEL HANDCUFFS

1920s WINCHESTER PADLOCK "RAREST MODEL"

There is rare, and then there is rare and expensive. I suspect that this lock got the bids it did partly because it was manufactured by Winchester.

Up for auction is the rarest of all Winchester padlocks. This lock can be found on page 661 of the standard catalog of Winchester and is in excellent working condition with no rust or corrosion and The shackle and dust cover have very strong spring tension. This is the toughest Winchester lock to find and is usually the one lock that everyone needs to complete there Winchester lock collection. It comes with its original key. So here is a good example of the cost of finishing that lock collection. Me, I prefer to collect locks that I find appealing. This does not even look vey nice, other than as something to fill the hole in the collection.
