Antique 'No-Key' COMBINATION CUTAWAY Padlock

This is one of my favorite padlocks. This cutaway version is awesome.

Antique 'No-Key' Combination Cutaway Padlock manufactured by Berkmann Manufacturing of Chicago. Patent date 09/17/07. Listed in Arnall's 6th edition, page 75. 1 7/8" x 2 3/4" (including shackle). Wrought brass metal case, bronze metal spring shackle, eight combination buttons. The combination is known (currently set to 3 buttons) and will be provided with purchase. By pressing the correct button combination (some buttons pushed in from the front, or are pushed in from the back, or are left alone entirely) the cutaway shows the internal mechanism operating as the shackle is released. In excellent antique condition (see pics), cutaway expertly done by a professional locksmith/lockmaker. This auction has a reserve of $274.99.

ABOUT OUR CUTAWAYS: Starting with a working padlock, the lock is carefully disassembled and the case milled to reveal internal working parts. Depending upon the lock, the face, back and sides of the case and shackle, and internal visible parts are carefully polished and the padlock is reassembled and tested (the lock as pictured is the lock you will receive). Each cutaway is a one-of-a-kind gem, created by an expert locksmith and collector (Randy Oxley). These cutaways are hand-made in very limited numbers, so if you are interested please don't wait to bid. The quality and performance as a collector's cutaway are guaranteed! - eBay (30 Nov 2012)

This padlock had a high bid of $290.99 (Plus $8.95 Shipping).

How to Change the Combination of your No-Key Combination Padlock

Here is a copy of the instructions to change the combination on your No-Key Combination padlock.

For your reference only. As the instructions note, you cannot go wrong by STRICTLY FOLLOWING THE DIRECTIONS. That said, I tried this on a spare padlock I had which was unlocked, but had an unknown combination. I used the instructions to clear the existing combination and then enter a new one of one button push.

I suggest not trying this on any padlock with a known working combination. There is no point other than to risk turning a working padlock into a paperweight.
