1861-69 U S INTERNAL REVENUE - Counter Seal Padlock

Here is a padlock I would like to add to my collection, if only I had the money to 'waste' on it.

rare U S INTERNAL REVENUE -- COUNTER -- lock complete with a nice working key.... lock is marked -- TOWNSEND PAT'D - DEC. 15, 61 -- JULY 27, 69 (1861-1869) --MAN''F'G CO -- BUFFALO, N.Y. --...... the side that is marked INTERNAL - U.S. - REVENUE -- has a GLASS covered COUNTER indicator above it..... each time that the lock is unlocked, the counter moves 1 number......... this allowed the INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE to be able to tell when the lock was unlocked etc etc ...... lock works great.as does the dust cover......... - eBay (9 Dec 2009)

This is a very beautifully made and very early Ian McColl piece made about 1979 or 1980. The patina is actually from age. It comes complete with a very unusual key, which is articulated to be used by an escape artist. Works perfectly. Can't find or afford a real lilly iron, then this is the handcuff for you. They come with a working key. I understand the middle ring is intended for overnight lockdown. The locking mechanism is a screw that is simple, but very effective. They work fine. A very rare restraint, or handcuff. Slave restraints, handcuffs.

Antique Relic Spanish Colonial Convent Door

Here is a nice-looking antique key.

We have just received another 7 very large Spanish Colonial Keys from one of the convents we work with in South America.

When a nun tells you that each one of these keys is at least 300 years old, because the original convent doors they came from were built at the same time the convent was, (300 years ago), you know they are special! Please see a picture below of one of the actual doors.

We cleaned only one, so you will see how they looked 300 years ago, but we have left the other 6 with their original patina. Each will be auctioned separately, and each will be described in the pictures above; taken next to a ruler.

They each weigh between 1/3 to ½ pound, and they would look great as a paper weight on a desk, or in a library.

Cherub / Cupid story padlock

Here is another story lock example:

I am no expert on story locks but I think this is a rare and very collectable one. Russell and Erwin produced several slightly different Cherub/Cupid story locks – some with USA stamped on them, slight variations in leaf pattern and so on. I think all are covered under the Henry E. Russell Jr. Design Patent D11308 from 1879. I have not found a picture of this exact one though collectors of this style of lock will know much more than me about it. It is 2 inches wide and a little over 2.5 inches tall with the R&E Co. trademark at the 6 o’clock position on the reverse of the lock. There is a R and E key with it. The lock is working and is in good condition. - eBay (18 Oct 2009)
